Let's talk about what happens if something goes wrong.

What Happens When Something Goes Wrong

Spoiler: We Don't Hide.

Let's get something out of the way.

Things go wrong sometimes. Not often. But sometimes.

A stitch pulls. A snap snaps when it shouldn't. A piece ships and somewhere between our studio in Charlotte and your front door, the universe decides to be dramatic. It happens. And when it does, we think the way a brand responds to that moment matters more than any product photo, any marketing campaign, or any perfectly curated Instagram grid.

So let's talk about it.

We Are Not a Faceless Warehouse

When you reach out to ColsenKeane because something isn't right, you are not submitting a ticket into the void. You are not waiting for an automated response that asks you to "please allow 5 to 7 business days." You are talking to real people, in a real studio, on East 7th Street in Charlotte, NC. People who actually made your thing. Or at the very least, know the person who did.

That changes everything about how a conversation goes.

Full-Grain Leather Is Tough. But It Is Not Invincible.

Here is something we will always be honest about: full-grain leather is the most durable leather you can buy. It is the top layer of the hide. It has not been sanded down or buffed into something it is not. It develops patina, character, and a story over years of use.

But it is still a natural material. And natural materials, combined with the reality of human life, sometimes need a little attention.

We know that. We planned for that. We actually enjoy that part.

What "Standing Behind Our Work" Looks Like in Real Life

It does not mean we slap a warranty sticker on a tag and hope nobody calls.

It means that when something is not right, we look at it. We assess it honestly. If it is a craftsmanship issue, we own it completely, no runaround, no fine print gymnastics, no "well technically the warranty only covers..." energy. We fix it or we make it right. Full stop.

If something happened because your bag went on seventeen camping trips, survived a cross-country move, and got left in a car in Phoenix in August, we are still going to talk to you like a human being and figure out the best path forward. Because that bag clearly lived a good life and so did you.

Why We Think This Matters More Than You Might Expect

There is a reason people talk about heirloom quality. There is a reason "made to last" is something customers actually care about. It is because most things are not made to last. Most things are made to be replaced.

We opted out of that model a long time ago.

When you buy a ColsenKeane piece, you are not buying something you will throw away in two years. You are buying something we expect you to hand down. And that kind of relationship requires trust. Not just trust in the leather or the stitching or the hardware. Trust in us as a company to show up when it counts.

We take that seriously.

The Unsexy Truth About Quality Control

We handcraft everything in our Charlotte studio. That means every single piece passes through human hands. And human hands, no matter how skilled, are not machines.

We have systems. We have standards. Your piece passes through the Leathersmiths and then a QA (spoiler alert: its me), who will absolutely notice if something is off. But we are not going to pretend we are infallible, because that would be a weird thing to pretend and also a little creepy.

What we will promise is this: if something leaves our studio that should not have, we want to know about it. Not because it is embarrassing, but because we genuinely care about the thing we made and the person who has it.

So If Something Goes Wrong With Your ColsenKeane Piece...

Reach out. Seriously. Come by the studio if you are local. Send us a message. Show us what is happening. We are not going to make you feel bad for it, and we are definitely not going to ghost you.

We built this brand on the idea that things should be made well and they should last. That belief does not stop at the sale. It travels with your leather goods, wherever they go.

Even Phoenix in August.
